Little glimmers of Spring

I can really relate to Frog and Toad today.

Do you all know this Frog and Toad story?

The one where Frog is excited about Spring in April

but Toad is grumpy about it…

(for the record it is NOT even April here folks… really!)

anway…

Toad knows the truth

Even though there are signs of Spring appearing

all over the land of Frog and Toad in APRIL

it is best to stay in bed

but Toad knows the truth

the warmth of Spring does not REALLY appear until May

the story is filled with delightful dialog between Frog and Toad

about the signs of spring and the grumpy attitude from Toad

b/c Toad is smart and he knows that Spring should not be enjoyed until May

when the weather really does improve and warms up for Reals

and he covers his head and tries to go back to sleep..

In the end Frog manipulates Toad into getting out of bed

by changing his calendar to May … even though it is only April…

and he tricks Toad into enjoying Spring early.

I am not quite sure how I feel about that.

I mean it was only a little white lie…

the kind where you are doing it for the better good of the other person.

or in this case Toad.

anyway… it conflicts with my morals .. ya know?!

(ha ha… please tell me you know I was kidding)

anyway…

I have decided that Washington Weather is evil.

evil, evil, evil!!     =)

Look at this…

the Sun shining brightly on my blooming honeysuckle bush…

Making the water droplets look like diamonds

all sparkly and bright…

teasing me to stay outside and enjoy the sunny day…

in early February!!!

really?  in February?

Maybe that is normal and I am crazy

but pretend with me if you will…

that IT IS STILL WINTER!!

and yet signs of SPRING are everywhere!!  *sigh*

it IS still COLD…

The Sun is shining

the birds are chirping

and delightful little buds are growing on the bushes

I LOVE it…

Oh how I LONG for warm weather again

this is the first year that I was SO NOT READY for Winter

and I have had this overwhelming urge to move to a Warm Sunny State!!

where the bushes & flowers probably never stop blooming??

I love that the honeysuckle and lilacs  are blooming

I LOVE that the Sun is making every thing so pretty

the grass is even growing for pity sakes

in 40 degree weather

Last year we had a few weeks like this…

only it was 60 degree weather

and people were MOWING their LAWNS in February!!

I blogged about it here (b/c I have a whole year of blog history now… fun!)

Anyway that is NOT normal in Washington folks

it just ain’t!!

don’t get me wrong

I love sunshine

and little buds on all the trees and bushes

and flowers blooming

and green grass

and well

I love spring!

but it is so depressing sometimes

when you KNOW

beyond a shadow of a doubt

that this is just a little tease

it is really ONLY a little tiny taste of what you have to WAIT 12 more weeks for

UNTIL MAY…

12 more weeks people!!  12!!!

12 more weeks of Cold, windy, WET and probably Snowy days

because it ALWAYS snows at least once between March  and  early May…

it just does that in Washington

nobody believes me … but it is TRUE

TOAD speaks TRUTH!!  =)

maybe it is better to stay in bed until Spring really arrives in MAY?!

You know what?

I am a sucker   … JUST like Toad

and I go out and blissfully enjoy the sun, the green grass and the buds on the trees

knowing full well

I will be devastated in a week or two

when the COLD blustery WINDY WET days return to Washington.    =)

I am getting old people.

I have this horrible urge to be a snow bird already!!  =)

just saying…

I am going back outside to enjoy this little window of Sunshine

even if it is still 40 degrees outside!!  =)

What is the Weather like in your neck of the woods today??

(don’t answer that if you live in Hawaii, California or Florida.. b/c I might cry!!!   =)

Blessings~

Toad’s pretty Twin Sister

(what is wrong with me today?)

I’m with you and Toad…I wish I could stay in bed until the real spring appears 😉 At least you have some buds…we have about 6 feet of snow on either side of the driveway to look at everyday 🙁 However, I do like the change of seasons, I think it would be boring without it…nothing to look forward to! The weather is supposed to warm up this week. I hope so…just no more snow m’kay!!

Today was below zero with wind chills around -25! We have been told this will be the same for the rest of the week. Oh how I want some temps above 10 degrees!

    I love that story!

We awoke to about 3 inches of fresh snow on the ground today. Which meant more sweeping and shoveling. Not that I mind too much … that was my exercise for the day. Tonight temps are in the single digits … school has already been delayed for tomorrow … and tomorrow night’s low is expected to be below zero. Just another winter in Pennsylvania. 🙂

There have been a few days where I didn’t have to wear my coat, but tonight we’re expecting snow, so I don’t know what’s what around here.
